Michael F. Ringel, Optometrist

Dr. Ringel graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology. He then entered the Ohio State University College of Optometry and graduated cum laude with his optometric degree in 1994. Dr. Ringel was 1 out of 62 students in his graduating class selected to complete a one year optometric residency focusing on ocular disease. His residency took place in Alliance, Ohio at the Ohio Eye Alliance, a multi-subspecialty ophthalmology practice. Dr. Ringel has since been practicing in Harrison, Ohio from 1995 through the present.

His special interests in optometry include the treatment & management of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy & macular degeneration, and corneal disorders like keratoconus. Dr. Ringel uses the latest in contact lens designs for common vision problems like nearsightedness and astigmatism to more complicated situations such as following a corneal transplant. Dr. Ringel is actively involved in the co-management of Lasik surgery. He writes a monthly column on eye care topics within the Professional Forum section of the Harrison Press and Dearborn County Register.

Outside the office you may see Dr. Ringel bicycle riding or golfing. His other passions include gardening and woodworking. He is active in the Harrison Kiwanis Club and has served as its President & Secretary. Dr. Ringel resides in Harrison Township.



Kathy Sturgill, Optometric Assistant

Kathy joined our office in March of 2003. She has worked in the optical field for over 25 years. Kathy is responsible for ensuring that your insurance pays properly. She regularly works on insurance claims that are processed in error by the insurance company. Kathy has a great deal of experience in fitting and adjustment of eyewear. She trains patients who are new to contact lens wear on the proper techniques for insertion & removal as well as lens care. Kathy assists Dr. Ringel in collecting preliminary data before he examines your eyes.

After normal office hours you may see her working out at the fitness center. She has many grandchildren and enjoys spending as much time as possible with them. Kathy resides in Harrison. Her compassionate personality makes her an asset to our office.



Angie Pope, Optometric Assistant

Angie joined our office in 2006. Prior to this she worked at a chiropractic office as the doctor's assistant. Her duties include check-in and check-out, placing orders, adjustment and dispensing of eyewear, billing insurance, and appointment scheduling. Angie has become very knowledgeable in the optical field in a short time and can handle complicated questions.

You may see Angie outside the office spending time with her husband. They enjoy camping and motorcycle riding. She is an avid reader. Angie is very personable and willing to help in any way that she can.

Examination Rooms

Dr. Ringel's office is equipped with the latest in examination equipment. He uses computerized instrumentation to assist him with measurements and diagnosis of your ocular status. Dr. Ringel takes great pride in providing accurate prescriptions.

One of the examination rooms is equipped with specially modified instruments to allow a person in a wheel chair to remain in that chair. This greatly reduces the need for multiple family members to accompany the patient.
